Today around the farm

Snapped a few pictures this afternoon while my little girl was playing outdoors.

The soybean field across the road is beginning to turn yellow.

The trees in our woods are starting to turn also.

View of the garden.

The pole beans have blossomed and set beans now.

Tater tires are about done. Crossing fingers for a good harvest!

Anxious to hear how the taters come out. What kind of beans do you plant. Wish I could find a variety that does well in the Texas panhandle. They come out a little on the tough side no matter when you plant them. If we plant a stringless variety, they have tough strings even if we pick them young and flat. Squash and okra work great, but I could use some variety. LOL Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Where are you located in Ohio? If you don't mind my asking. I grew up in Marion County. I just moved to Ky in 1995. I miss the fields sometime, but not the mosquitoes. lol

Lizbeth - I have planted Kentucky Wonder and Blue Lake green beans. Both do well here and they are stringless. I even did a yellow wax bean one year. Don't remember the variety.

small farm girl - I am in Auglaize county. We are in west central Ohio. Marion county is a couple hours away at most. My one grandma came from KY, near Middlesboro. Pretty country down there!

I always wanted to plant in tires. I tried the garbage bag method with potatoes before and it semi worked...meaning I got 2 teeny tiny potatoes-the size of a grape. That's it.

I love Kentucky Wonders. Think I'll try a different seed company next year.
